Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)

ISDN is the type of phone lines most businesses have used to connect to the phone network.

ISDN also delivers calls from your main phone number, 1300, 1800 and 13 numbers.

ISDN services are being mandatorily disconnected from September 2019.

Carriers are legally required to disconnect copper services such as ISDN and disconnection dates are non-negotiable.

Many customers are unaware of the disconnection and don’t have a plan to manage the migration to address this

    3 Options to replace ISDN

Option 1 – Upgrade to UCaaS

Much more than a phone system in the cloud.

More features, more flexibility, more scalable, more mobile, more cost effective.

    The very latest technology.

Keep your existing phone numbers, Voice Calls, Video Calls, Audio Conference, Video Conference, Chat, Presence, Document sharing, Collaboration, Includes your phone system, lines, phone numbers and calls.

Plus, you don’t need to patch, upgrade, or maintain the system. Being in the cloud means the hard work is all done for you.

    Option 2 – SIP Trunks

A common and cost effective replacement for ISDN is SIP trunks.

SIP delivers a range of benefits for businesses:

    • Portability
    • Scalability
    • Resilience
    • High Definition Voice
    • Value – lower line costs and lower call charges

Keep your existing phone numbers, Keep your existing phone system.

If you keep your existing phone system you will likely need changes

If your Phone System is: You will need:

    IP Trunk Enabled

    Phone system reprogramming

    IP Trunk Capable

    System Upgrade

Depending on the state of your current system this may require Hardware, Software, or both

    Non IP Trunk Capable

Install and program an IP Gateway/IAD  (a piece of physical equipment that converts non IP signals to IP signals)

    Option 3 – Go Mobile

Fully mobile communications can suit some businesses and worker types as a replacement to a fixed phone system

Mobiles are inexpensive, direct person to person, easily scalable, can received calls diverted from a fixed main number and support workers on the move.

Businesses using mobiles exclusively create the perception they are very small with no fixed location.

Outbound calls show the mobile number and lacks more sophisticated features, such as hunt groups, call recording, call queuing, message on hold etc.
